On October 29th the children of Year 8 visited the Natural History Museum for a project called “Aliens and Biodiversity”.
Biodiversity is a fundamental resource for our planet, and Friuli Venezia Giulia, thanks to its geographical position, is remarkably rich in animal and plant species. However, some “foreign” animals – introduced accidentally or intentionally – are endangering local ecosystems. This is the phenomenon of invasive species, a problem that currently affects the entire world.
Through the observation and alasysis of museum artifacts, the workshop guided the students in discovering the value of biodiversity and how it is threatened. A critical approach was developed to understand the ecological dynamics at play, and the students reflected together on the concepts of land management, protection, and conservation.
