On Monday, February 9th, students from Year 6 to Year 9 had the opportunity to listen live, here at school, to a group of musical instruments representing the orchestra, played by professional musicians. They described their instruments, explained their functioning and structure, performed their sound, and answered the students’ questions. The role of the orchestra conductor was also introduced, allowing the students to better understand their role and function.
The performers played both classical and modern pieces, allowing for a varied approach. The educational goal was to offer the students firsthand knowledge of musical instruments, to inspire them through discussion and listening, and to show them firsthand the emotion that ensemble music can inspire. Finally, the students were able to sing along with the orchestra!
