AMERICAN POPULAR MUSIC

15 may 03:41 pm

On the 14th of May our Year 9 students hosted in their class, during the musical education lesson, Dr. Mark Lewis, a graduate of George Mason University (Virginia - USA) and a great expert of American popular music, who presented them a detailed report on the subject, focusing in particular on the twentieth century.

Starting from the definition of various genres such as Ragtime, Delta Blues, R&B, Jazz, Big Band, Funk, Disco and Rap, Mr. Lewis introduced fundamental topics such as the importance of Afro-American musicians, music during Second World War, the influence of Italian culture on the American popular consciousness and the utility of learning English from American song lyrics.

A beautiful interactive lesson, accompained by numerous multimedia contents, for which we would like to thank Mr. Lewis once more!
